Takumar photographs in the night

A two of takumar-lenses used in the darkness of the night in this photographs. The first with Asahi Opt.Co. Wonderful-Takumar 135mm/3.5 and the second Auto-Takumar 85mm/1.8, both on Canon EOS 350D.

Precisely a nice little portrait of one favorite lens, the Asahi Opt.Co. Auto-Takumar 85mm/1.8. As common the Spotmatic acts cameramodel for the Asahi-lenses (since I constraint the DSLR to create the image ;) ).

Anyone getting into these old lenses (or cameras) would do well to pick up a set of nugatory jeweler's screwdrivers. They're inexpensive and they come in handy. I've had the severe same situation come up with a couple of my lenses. Fortunately, it is a very foolproof fix.

85mm f1.8 problem

fenderslash posted a new keynote:

Hi folks,

One for those who love to tinker with their lens' insides...

I was recently noted an SPII with a 55mm f2 M42 screw mount lens, and instantly level in love with it. Of course, I then wanted to add a wide angle and a vignette lens and have since purchased a 28mm and the 85mm.

The 85mm arrived today and for the main part is in faultless condition, but there is one problem. The metal ring with the window cut-out and the profoundness-of-field guide printed on it spins freely around the lens barrel, which distinguish it very inconvenient to know what apperture I'm setting.

Not knowing much about the technicalities of lenses in common, and being brand new to Takumars in particular, is there an easy solution for a non-tech like me to fix it in digs? Alternatively, would it be an easy and innexpensive fix to have it done professionally? Or is something permanently split inside and this is the way it will remain?

Cheers,
Carl
