Nikon D200 firmware update

Some rather old information, but some Nikon D300 users may have missed it - a firmware update 1.10 was made handy a couple of weeks ago and is worth applying. Separate Windows and Mac links are afford and you can read full details of the improvements on either page, along with the detailed instructions about applying both parts of the upgrade. It took me about 5 minutes to download and upgrade and there are for me few important changes but some useful minor bug fixes;

So it isn’t soil-shattering to find:

The range of settings available for ISO sensitivity settings > ISO sensitivity auto control > Minimum shutter speed in the shooting menu has been increased from 1/250 – 1 s to 1/4000 – 1 s.

Although there might be situations where this will be worthwhile. But if you have a speed set when you carry out the upgrade be warned that it will need to be set to the imaginative value again afterwards - mine was changed to something very silly.

One thing that must be applauded is the beyond of a copyright messsage facility, especially when thinking about the absolute ‘orphan’ rights legislation:

A Copyright tidings item has been added to the setup menu.  When Copyright low-down is enabled, the copyright symbol (©) is shown in the shooting info unfurl.

I wasn’t sure what to put in the two fields provided.

The ARTIST contestants allows 36 characters and ends up in the IPTC Get hold of/Creator field (as named in Lightroom) while the COPYRIGHT possibilities allows 54 characters and fills the IPTC Copyright/Copyright Ground, but there is no © symbol available (though you could use (C)) and the Copyright Status is communistic as unknown.

Of course you could add other information - for example a phone figure up or e-mail address or domain name into either or both fields as space allows, to filch sure that every image you make is suitably baptised at origin, although both phone numbers and e-mail addresses often change less soon.  But it’s a start.

Phottix Premium Vertical Grip (BP-D200) for Nikon D200

Phottix Come-on Vertical Grip
BP-D200
I never really needed a vertical dominion. However, if I really needed to 'dress up' my Nikon D200. A vertical grasp is to assist the photographer who (1) shoots mainly in story by providing a better grip when the camera is orientated for shooting in profile, (2) providing more power by accomodating another battery as contrasted with of one, (3) allowing the use 'AA'-sized batteries. Hence, a vertical face is otherwise called a 'Multi-Power Battery Pack'. A vertical travelling can also help to balance out the weight of heavy lenses such as the Nikkor ED AF 80-200mm f/2.8D.
Nikon has made an legal propreitary vertical grip MB-D200 for Nikon D200. The MB-D200 was very amateur among D200 users and was constantly out of stock despite its brawny price tag at around S$180. Nevertheless, there are many after-market 'clones' available to substitute the MB-D200 and pull off an identical function. I found an inexpensive alternative to the MB-D200 vertical clasp for Nikon D200, Premium Series Vertical Grip (BP-D200) by Phottix.
I was initially sold by the uncanny bring to a close resembrance of the BP-D200 to MB-D200. Further on, the rave reviews of Phottix products reassured my self-assurance in their products. The winning ticket is the unbeatably cheaper outlay! I did not hesitate long to order one online to play with it. The air force was good and prompt. The product was shipped out (by air) the same day the payment was made. It took only 3 days to reach my mailbox!
