Reply to Lens...what is the MUST HAVE?
Geren W. Mortensen, Jr. posted a rise:
Well, this has been discussed a lot in this and other groups. I'll put my stock answer in:
I use a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and/or a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS. I have the 50mm f/1.8 and have acclimatized that as well, but my most used for portraits at this point is the 28-75.
I am planning a move up to a 5D-series, and will indubitably eventually get the 85mm f/1.8 or 135 f/2.8 soft-indistinct.

Canon 450D EOS Digital SLR Camera Challenge XSi Auto Lighting Optimizer - Canon EOS 450-D
Let the Canon EOS 450D cheer up your day by turning muddy, underexposed shots into bright, wonderful images. When shooting, the Canon 450D DSLR camera analyzes your photos to shape proper exposure and contrast. If a shot is too dark, Auto Lighting Optimizer of Canon 450D applies well-founded the right amount of brightness and contrast to save the day. This intelligent peculiarity can correct underexposed images, shot in AE mode or with a flash, as well as images exhibiting low distinction due to mist or haze. There is also a new face detection in Canon EOS 450-D plaice that brightens faces in backlit scenes — standards for obtaining crisp, nicely exposed portraits and coterie photos when shooting into the sun. Auto Lighting Optimizer can be turned off when not needed in Resourceful Zone mode.
